Tamayo studied “ artes plasticas” in a professional  art school in Santiago de Cuba where he graduated in.  He is a professor of pintura.  He has participated in more than 100 expositions, nationally and internationally.  He has participated in other expositions in Mexico, Holand, Chezlovakia amongst others.

He is a member of UNEAC (Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba).   He is the director of the Cultural Arts, “Luis Diaz Oduardo”, which is the center of Artes Plasticas for Santiago and the Sierra Maestra region of Cuba.
